winter wonderland

today's snow day meant absolutely nothing to me. no classes on fridays (or mondays) so my weekend was not extended at all. i still have an endless list of upcoming due dates, jobs to apply for, laundry that won't do itself, and an apartment that has been somewhat neglected. sadly grownup life doesn't get put on hold for a day of fun in the snow. it was probably even lower on the productivity scale than most of my fridays (which are set aside to work on the thesis and other big projects) because pretty much everyone in the building was home & making boatloads of noise. i blasted some art song to try and drown out the ugly sounds so i could concentrate on getting readings done. i still have 3-4 hours of work time left...hopefully the last push will be meaningful enough to make a difference so i can enjoy at least part of the weekend! my next apartment will be soundproofed.
things are looking up on the job front. while i have no concrete interviews or offers *yet*, there is lots of potential. keep your fingers crossed for me! luckily even though the job market is slowing down, the world still needs saving, so i've got options.
